Website, web app or mobile app: where should your product start?
Not every idea needs an app on day one. A practical way to decide where your digital product should start — and how to grow it later.

“We need an app” is one of the most common first sentences we hear. Sometimes it's exactly right. Often a fast website or a web app will reach more people sooner, for a fraction of the cost. Here is how we help clients decide.
Start with the job, not the platform
Write down what a visitor needs to do: learn about you, book something, buy something, or use a tool every day. Informational jobs belong on a website. Tools people use occasionally fit a web app. Things people use daily — with notifications, the camera or offline access — earn a place on the home screen.
Website
Best for being found. A well-built, multilingual website with good SEO is still the most reliable way for new customers to discover a business.
Web app
Best for tools and dashboards: booking systems, client portals, internal software. It works on every device, and every update reaches every user instantly.
Mobile app
Best for daily habits. Push notifications, payments, maps and offline use make a native experience worth it — and with Flutter, one codebase can serve both iOS and Android.
Grow in steps
A common path is website first, then a web app for your most important workflow, and a mobile app once people use it every day. Designing the backend for that path from the start means nothing has to be rebuilt later.
